KINGMAN, AZ - On Wednesday, April 30th at approximately 5:15 p.m., the Kingman Police Department arrested Jeremy Lynn Muse, 36 of Kingman, on a felony charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Aggravated Assault – Domestic Violence. Additional felony charges are pending including Kidnapping, Sexual Assault, Attempted Murder and Endangerment pending the completion of the on-going investigation.
The incident began at 12:08 p.m., when Kingman Police responded to multiple reports of shots fired in the 2100 block of Harrison Street. Officers learned that Muse had allegedly fired multiple rounds at the victim before fleeing the area in a silver Chevrolet Cruze. The victim was not injured. The shooting stemmed from a domestic violence incident that occurred at a residence in the 2300 block of Valentine Avenue, from which the victim had escaped. Investigators later confirmed that children were present in the home during the incident.
At about 1:12 pm, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office began receiving reports of a shooting occurring at a residence in Golden Valley where a woman had been fatally shot. The suspect description in that case matched the description of Jeremy Muse.
For the next several hours investigators with the Kingman Police Department, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, and the Arizona Department of Public Safety attempted to locate Muse. At approximately 5:05 PM, Muse’s vehicle was located in the area of Highway 66 and Mohave Airport Drive. A traffic stop on the vehicle was attempted, however the vehicle fled. Officers from the Arizona Department of Public Safety, Arizona Department of Public Safety Ranger helicopter, Kingman Police Department, and the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office pursued the vehicle. During the chase, Muse, the driver of the vehicle, reportedly fired his handgun multiple times at pursuing officers, striking at least one patrol vehicle.
The pursuit ended when Muse crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of Airway Avenue and Willow Rd/Harrison St in Kingman. Muse exited his vehicle, and gunfire was exchanged between Muse and the officers. Muse was struck multiple times, ending the gunfire. Muse was taken into custody and the Arizona Department of Public Safety helicopter landed and began rendering medical aid to Muse. Medical personnel with the Kingman Fire Department and River Medical Ambulance also responded to the scene.
Muse was transported to the Kingman Regional Medical Center and later airlifted to a Las Vegas hospital where he is currently listed in critical condition. The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash sustained minor injuries.
Two Kingman Police Officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure in officer-involved shootings. The Arizona Department of Public Safety’s Major Incident Division is handling the criminal investigation related to the officer-involved shooting and the collision.
The Kingman Police Department continues its investigation into the original shooting incident in the 2100 block of Harrison Street.
